Founder of Northern Skies Creation and with a PhD in English Literature, Jessica has an unwavering passion for writing of all kinds. From a lengthy and demanding career in education spanning Saudi Arabia, Qatar and England, Jessica has become an influential figure within the British Curriculum.

Within the last five years however, Jessica has transformed her professional life by becoming a freelance writer, enabling her to showcase her literary talent even further. Her ongoing and long-term research interests include applying contemporary theoretical frameworks such as the Chthulucene and Symbiocene to environmental literature for children, the psychological effects of climate destruction upon children and how and why literature can be used a tool for healing, as well as the complex uses of double address in modern and contemporary literature. As well as being a published writer, and with more publications due in 2025, Jessica is also the Enquiries Secretary for The Ted Hughes Society, and a member of the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Pedagogy.

Jessica’s current research and writing interests include the positive effects of the outdoor learning environment for children, the use of ecology alongside the arts, how to devise innovative ideas to keep children’s mental health at the forefront of the learning journey, as well as strategies for driving change to the British Curriculum so that every child is seen and heard.

More recently, Jessica has embarked on an empowering journey of both self discovery and self belief by successfully completing thorough training in Virtual Assistance. Having developed a wide skillset, she is now well equipped to help businesses develop, grow and thrive, both with day-to-day admin as well as specific writing needs.

By carving out her own business, Jessica realised that a life lived in fear is a life half lived, so let’s live out our dreams today!
